Eight Months Old

My big boy turned eight months old on July 11!

We were in Colorado at the time and had a great family vacation there with his great-grandparents. What a luck kid to have GREAT grandparents AND GREAT-grandparents!

Here are what have been the hightlights of this past month...

Weight: 19 lbs. 15 oz.

Height to come at 9 month appt.

Foods: Everything except peas. (we'll try again soon!)

Pears, apples, nectarines (favorite to suck on), watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, oatmeal, avocado, turkey and chicken! We recently added in tomatos and he seems to like that. Whew, i'm probably even leaving something out.

LOVES yogurt and LOVES his bottle.

He's interested in everything. He examines things (grass below) with such concentration.

HAS HIS FIRST TOOTH! His first tooth FINALLY cut through his gums at eight months, 1 week. Thankfully, we were home from Colorado already because he got a cold right after the tooth came in. It made for four sleepless nights and one un-happy boy.

Still not crawling on his knees - he does a 'belly crawl' on his tummy and uses is arms. When he wants to change direction, he pivots. It's so funny. I was so excited for him to crawl, but after this last week of his first tooth coming in (which i was so anxiously awaiting the arrival of) i've decided to let things happen when they need to. I'm happy that for the time being he will at least stay put in the same room you put him down in!

Generally sleeps very well - 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. (minus this past week with his tooth)

Still loves being surrounded by his puppy dogs, playing with his toys and loves reading books. (ones that make animal noises are a bonus!)

Has a little "twinkle" of mischief in his eye - not sure WHERE that comes from!? :)

Continues to make everyone around him smile!

Rub-a-dub-dub

Check out Connor's new bath! Bathtime sure is more fun now. He was quickly getting inpatient with the infant tub and was ready to kick and splash freely! I was thrilled to find this insert for the tub that gives him some more support in case he lost his balance, but lets him be in the big tub. (without me in it!)

He was having so much fun, it was hard for me to get his attention! This is one of my favorite times of the day - splashing and laughing with this little boy just makes my heart happy.

Bonus: the beak quacks!! I think the dogs enjoyed this feature more than C did.

We had a fun-filled weekend!

Today was nice to lounge and play at home and cool off in the baby pool with the puppy dogs!

Today i definately missed my dad a lot. Not just because it's Fathers Day - i miss him everyday - but mostly because I know how he would just adore Connor. He was just the best dad ever and would have been the greatest grand-daddy. Even though he's in heaven, he's still Pappa, Pops, Daddy, Dude, Mac, Bull dog and Grumpy Gramps.... now he's our Grampity, Gramps and Granddaddy. We miss you!

Hope you were able to spend time with the dad in your life - don't wait for Fathers Day - kiss and hug them often, because those are the things that last forever.

Six and Seven Months

And the worst blogger award goes to ... drum roll ... me!! Oh well, i've absorbed enough mommy guilt over it, so now have just decided to move on to this month. CONNOR IS SEVEN MONTHS OLD TODAY!

I know i say this each month, but really - time is flying by!

Here were his six month stats:

Height: 26 inches and 35th percentile

Weight: 17.2 lbs and 44th percentile

He's DEFINITELY had a growth spurt in the last month. I think he's probably around 19 lbs. now.

Clothes: 9 months and 12 months

Diapers: Finishing off our box of 3's - next up ... size 4!

Foods: sweet potatoes, squash, apples, peaches, pears, watermelon, mango, prunes, carrots, blueberries, avocado (pretty much anything that's not green!) cereal and oatmeal

Yuckies: We had a nasty run-in with an ear infection. Connor was NOT a happy camper with a 103 degree fever. Glad we're over that!

Sleep: Still mostly sleeps 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.

Naps: Still not the best napper. He doesnt want to miss out on anything! He takes mostly 2 naps a day. Sometimes only 1 at school.

Play: favorite toys are still his Jumperoo and Johnny Jumper, light-up stacker at Nanna's house, anything he can chew on. Swimming and bath time are still favorites!

His little personality is coming out in full force. You know if Connor wants or doesnt want something! His vocab consists of "Ahh". He uses different tones and expressions for what he's saying. Here's the translations:

"Ahhhhhhhh" in a long moan-like sound: I'm tired, trying to fall asleep

"Ah! Ah! Ah!": when he wants something or is trying to get your attention or talking to his puppies

"Ah a ah ah": jibber jabber chatting

"AHHHH!!": very loud and cross = 'no, i dont want that or like that'

So, speaking of the little monkey .... I'm off to swim with this little wiggle worm ....
